Gt. Yarmouth Town Hall- 1
Pot Black F.C- 6
Match Overview- This match could not be further removed from the two sides previous friendly encounters over the last couple of years, after a pair tough clashes saw a win a piece for the sides north and south of the border.
Pot Black had only one sub in the form of Manager Danny McKinley despite their massive squad, Centre back Darren Laws was donning the gloves in the absence of Kev Sherwood who was at J.P.H with Ross Jones for moral support as he was having his gastric band fitted.
Rob Cooper and 'Captain for the day' Steven Foulkes were the unlikely midfield duo at the centre of things, but seeing 'Usain Boyd' with his Too Hotty tan, shaven chest and six pack implants returning at left back was a real positive if not just a visual surprise.
As for our friends at Town Hall their ranks were depleted even more so, sporting more ringers than a bell tower, but to their credit played on with their management team forced to dust their boots off.
In fairness the opening exchanges were entertaining from the sideline with the makeshift Hall side giving a good account of themselves, but it was the visitors who took the lead, when the ball reached Vinny Terry on the edge of the box after good work form Doddington and Cooper, as he smashed the ball home.
**Comedy Moment 1** Another move shortly saw 'Big Guns' burst free down the right again into space as he Cooley and calmly fired his effort 50 yards over the cross bar, to which a dog walker under his breath behind me said "Bloody hell, that's in Cobham!".
Terry was in the thick of it again within minutes when Neil Banks released him as his deep pinpoint cross was met by a strong Doddington header at the back post.
Big Darren Laws between the sticks not only made the goal look like a 5-a-side one but also turned provider before the break when his monster kick (bigger than Hollywood's I might add!!!) foxed the Hall back line as Adam Birds glorious first touch left him only the keeper to beat, 3-0.
**Comedy Moment 2** Darren Laws who was now swaggering around like Oliver Kahn shouting about how great he was, found himself in a one on one situation as he raced out to clear, meeting the ball well before the Striker, yet some how managed to put so much back spin and slice on his kick the ball went over his shoulder, forcing the striker to stop dead and stare in wonder.
An unfortunate incident saw Town Hall reduced to a bare eleven, when two players jumped for the same ball, resulting in a nasty clash of heads. (All at P.B hope they both make a speedy recovery).
Town Hall pegged back a deserved goal for all their hard work just before the break as their midfield man smashed into the top corner into the small patch of net not covered by Lawsey's immense frame.
Rob Cooper now relieved Laws who made his way to a striking position, and Bird joined Berger in midfield. After only 5 minutes Tommy Miles took a knock which meant Danny McKinley joined Laws in attack with Doddy slipping to the left, it is safe to say the look of fear in the defenders eyes was there for all to see (with my mate Jonno looking visibly nervous, like a Cornish pasty at a 'fat fighters club').
It was Manager Danny McKinley who was next to pounce when Darren Boyd's Maisey run saw Big Guns drop the ball into the path of his gaffer who slotted into the bottom right, proving 'statistic never lie!'
A Berger corner found Darren Laws onside for a change make a delightful lay off to Vinny Terry to blast home from point blank range, 5-1. The scoring was rapped up when a 40 yard Danny Rose pass set Keith Doddington away down the left as he broke into the box calmly slotting under the keeper.
Proceedings were brought to an early halt sensibly by the excellent Kevin Batty in the heat, with both side glad to finish after a delayed kick-off and long injury stop in the first half.
Special thanks to our good friends at Town Hall who scraped together a side for the game, and took it for what it was a kick about and a good laugh. With any luck I hope we'll be facing these lads next term in Division 1, good luck boys and see you next summer.
