But I can say, I'm totally delighted with our achievements and most importantly we've done it the right way! We haven't brought in a shed load of glory hunters, we have done it with the players who have been giving their all for the club for years with a few new friends helping us on our way.
We all know that some people around the league will be quick to try kick us down and belittle our efforts but we'll never change them and to be fair its their loss as they'll never know what a great feeling it is to be apart of this club.
Some may say they've not won anything... But I beg to differ, The runners up spot to us is like a cup win and the fact we have the best defensive record in the entire town is something to be proud of! But our biggest win has been over our own mentality as we have gone from a side who dropped points in silly games and the big boys expected to walk over, yet now we are a side who have the hunger to win, and every man knows that he can look into the eyes of his team mate, 'nee' friend and know that he will stand side by side with him and fight til the end.
For now all my cajoling, pushing and rallying can be rested for a few months as we now have the chance to reflect with a smile on the 2008/09 season, as I begin to plan our pre-season campaign with regards to training and friendlies.
Although before that begins we have lots of things to look forward to with our legendary social side;
Saturday 16th May- 'Pot Black Saturday Side Runners-Up Bar Crawl' to take place around Lowestoft (details to follow).
Friday 29th May- Lowestoft & District League Presentation @ Notleys. This is just to collect our Runners-Up trophies and I for one will be taking it easy as you will need your strength for the following evening.
Saturday 30th May- 'The Pot Black F.C Presentation Night' @ P.B.H.Q starting at 7.30pm. These nights have got incredibly messy over the years so do not plan anything for Sunday!
There are also lots of other things that will be taking place between now and the end of August but dates and times are still to be confirmed including, 'The Pot Black Annual Bike Night', 'The Pot Black Sports Day', our planned friendly & Bar BQ against our friends at Wenhaston (followed by drinky poo's in Halesworth and the last train back), and lastly a potential friendly in Kent against our brothers 'The Pot Black Extreme Skiers and Elite Footballers'.
So much to do, so little time...
Well done lads, I'm proud and hope you are too.
