Lowestoft & District League Div 1- 02/05/09
Beccles Caxton Res- 0
Pot Black F.C- 3
Match Overview- The visitors entered this fixture brimming with confidence after their midweek victory over Norton. Several P.B regulars took a leave of absence in this match for one reason or another, but this did mean that Steve 'The Crab' Collins was finally available after completion of the London Marathon, and L'Orange Legend Ross 'Molby' Jones were named on the bench, the latters first involvement since October.
The Caxton side, L'Orange faced was a far cry from the strong battling side they faced before Xmas, with Pot Black instantly dominating their opponents all over the field, although P.B's inability to finish their opportunities meant that frustration crept into their game, combined with Caxtons clear lack of interest and light hearted manor meant that Pot Black were unable to raise their game prior to the break.
With the visitors continuing to dominate possession the deadlock was broken from a most unlikely source in a most unlikely manor as Rob 'The Retard' Sterry reacted first in the box smashing the ball home with his LEFT FOOT!! (I know, I didn't think he had one either?).
Enter 'The Crab' and 'Molby'.... Steve Collins took the centre midfield roll pairing Paul Taylor with Ross Jones slotting in at Centre Half, joining Danny Rose which sent Darren Boyd up the field with a swagger that only Jean Piere Papin and Gert Muller ever mastered! Captain Boyd did not disappoint as he beat the offside trap before lifting the ball over the keepers head from outside the box.
A promise was made between Keeper and Manager at the start of the season that he would allow him to throw off the shackles of his gloves for a run up front at some point... "Come'th the hour, come'th the man." Now sporting an unbelievable line up featuring Darren Boyd in goal, Vinny Terry at Left Back, and Kev Sherwood joined by Manager Danny McKinley in an attacking a pairing that can only be compared to a John Hartson/Micky Quinn Combo.
Yet with L'Orange already celebrating the spoils of a unimaginable season the Pot Black cake received it's cherry, when Kev Sherwood who had been saving a 'burst of speed' for 3 seasons for this moment, beat the offside trap before firing a Justin Fashanu-esq effort into the top corner, before every player in orange buried their man and covered him in kisses!
Goals- Rob Sterry, Darren Boyd and Kev Sherwood.
