We've Done It!

Lowestoft & District League 1- 25/04/09

Wrentham F.C- 0

Pot Black F.C- 2

Match Overview- With so much on the line this weekend with the Division 1 Runners-up spot still up for grabs and the Safeguard Sunday County Cup Final kicking off at 2.15pm on Sunday, all would be forgiven for having a few nerves entering the weekend.

Paul Taylor, Jordan Wardrope, Steven Foulkes, and Vinny Terry were all unavailable against an in-form Wrentham side, and Manager Danny McKinley was consious of player comitments with several of the Saturday side preparing for action for the Sunday side, so worked his bench to allow for this.

Pot Black started strongly with Max Wall and Adam Tantony looking powerful and creative in the centre of the park with Simon Hall in the attacking line causing problems for the homeside. Adam Bird came close early on after picking up a cleared corner and jinking round 3 players before scuffing his shot wide of the post.

Kev Sherwood proved yet again what a class act he is between the sticks, when he pulled off two heart in mouth saves, during a spell of Wrentham pressure. Although the visitors took the lead when the human battering ram Darren Laws met a perfect Adam Tantony corner with a strong header.

The second half started with a nasty injury to Scotty 'Too Hotty' Reynolds which resulted in a hospital visit, which saw Rob Cooper slip in on the left wing, and entered the match impressing instantly with some vintage runs of old.

Simon Hall effectively sealed the result when he burst through the home sides defence after some clever football and lifted the ball over Gooch's head into the net. Fresh legs in the form of Sterry and Richi Reeder came in for Cup bound Max Wall and Adam Bird as some good work by Gav Hunt saw the ball fall to Simon Hall who smashed the ball into the bottom corner, only to see the home side linesman raise his flag to the dismay of the L'Orange contingent, although the job in truth, was done.

With celebrations of a good victory against a strong side, causing spirits to be high, these were increased further as news filtered in that Norton had been taken down by the Champions as expected, meaning that L'Orange have confirmed their runners -up medal only two years after scraping through to retain their position in the first division.

Goal Scorers- Darren Laws & Simon Hall

G.H. Windows & Doors M.O.M- Adam Tantony, a fantastic vintage Falco performance, with towering headers and clever flicked passes. Outstanding!
