Then as if PB’s weekend couldn’t get any better we battled our way into the final of the Suffolk Senior Sunday cup!!! Terrific effort by all the lads involved, I’m sure they will agree a big thanks to ‘the messiah’ Mick Wall and anyone else who helped in getting the bus load of fans over. It made such a difference having the PB faithful there, it lifts you up and makes you feel like a giant, it transforms an average player into half decent player. It really spurs you on hearing everyone cheer and shout down every tackle, every header and any goal opportunity, so big thanks. It also turns you into a nervous wreck and gives you chronic diarrhoea; just ask Max Blowers, the noises coming out of his cubical where reminiscent of the morning after a night out on Stella. The final will be played at Bungay and an anonymous comment on our blog suggests Wortham will be taking a load of fans as they did to the Semi. We need to double our efforts guys, let’s invite the Boyd’s, there are loads of them!!
Ok, deep breath, this Saturday our title hopes either start or finish. Its like Ali vs Cooper, Tom vs Jerry, David vs Goliath, we’re not expected to win, we’re the under dogs, they are raining champions and odds on favourites to take the title. We, well we are group of lads who have become awesome friends through football, you could argue football is an excuse for us lot to get together and drink like Gazza, more often than not that’s the case but this season something special has happened. The Gaffer has made a few acquisitions these lads have slipped in like a freshly shaven 21 year old into silk sheets. Not only that but it’s brought on the lads in the side who have been the staple diet of PB football for years. It’s important we don’t tip the balance of fun vs winning as like every good cocktail over do the ingredients and it will leave a bitter taste in your mouth. But I think I can say our very own Doug Coughlin (Bryan Brown) aka Mckinley has just about managed to get it right thus far. Every person has played a part in where we are now, forgotten heroes from the past, to present day heroes, but Saturday we can all become heroes. I-like you want this bad, as if that’s not enough people are posting comments on our site saying do the league a favour. I don’t give a shit about anyone else, I want this for PB. This is our most successful season by a mile and we could give up now and settle for second place, possible third, it’s up to us, we have come this far and it will be a crying shame to role over now, we’ll kick ourselves when we look back. We said it before last Sundays cup game, coming back into the changing rooms after loosing is hard to swallow but I’m confident, the pressure is on Hearts of Oak. If we win it will be billed as an upset, a blip in the Hearts season and people won’t say, “Another fine performance from PB”. I don’t feel hard done by, I don’t want pity, I’m content with the notion of being the underdog. Every dog has their day and as with every Hollywood blockbuster, every underdog fairytale…… well, we all know how it ends.
See you Sat amigos and don’t forget to bring your bollocks.
