Barsham- 0
Pot Black F.C- 0
Match Overview-
Following a pleasing start to the new season, Black made the short trip to Beef Meadow to face unknown quantity Barsham, who made the leap up from the second division this summer. Although these two sides had not meet for four seasons, the sides were unrecognisable from the previous encounters, as both teams basked in the fantastic conditions on a pitch that come December will be incredibly difficult.
Three changes from victory at Spexhall saw Sterry, Wall and Waldrope making their first start of the new season, as Barsham came out of the traps like greyhounds, leaving L'Orange surprised by their pace and movement as the home sides 16 year old striker stole the plaudits with some clever runs and all round play.
The first 45 minutes passed without any real efforts with neither keeper forced into a save, although powerful centre half Danny Rose was thanking his lucky stars when his mis-timed tackle on the half way line, only warrented a yellow with big Darren Laws sweeping up behind him.
The second half was a little more exciting as gaps began to open due to tired legs in the extreme heat, as both sides pushed on further, as Rob Sterry came to the visitors rescue after L'Orange over committed on a corner and were caught on the break, when his last gasp lung saved a 1 on 1, with the bored Kevin Sherwood.
The impressive Barsham keeper was at last called into action with 30 minutes to go as sub Rob Cooper's 20 yard deflected effort saw him pull of a amazing save to frustrate P.B even more. Despite Barshams outstanding performance through out the match it was Pot Black finished strongest as they desperately searched for victory as twice from corners they were denied twice, first Tantony of the line, then laws of the crossbar then the line.
In conclusion a very pleasing point from a toughly fought match, that at present may seem like points dropped, but come the end of the season will look a lot different, as without doubt quite a lot of teams will slip up at Barsham. Although after conceding only two goals from three games we've got to be happy with the obvious defensive work we're putting in... still undefeated well done.
G.H.Windows & Doors M.O.M- Max Wall, fantastic work rate.
