Bungay F.C. XI - 2
Pot Black F.C - 3
Match Overview- After a pleasing outing last week at Wenhaston, L'Orange entered their 2nd match in 7 days expecting a tough work out on a large pitch in warm conditions.
Yet again P.B's ever rotating squad came into play as in 24 hours prior to the match the subs bench dwindled from 7 to 2 then back up to 3 as manager Danny McKinley took about as much persuading as a fat kid with a doughnut to pull on his boots.
Captain Darren Boyd returned at centre back for his first summer appearance and new signing Ian Wilson started up front with Keith Doddington.
Pot Black started confidently although realised quickly that they would have to play a waiting game as the home side's movement and high possession would mean having to take our chances when they arrived.
Keith Doddington saw an early opportunity fizz wide after good combination work from Wilson & Cooper down the visitors left. Although in was the side in blue who struck the first blow as a fortunate deflection fell to the tricky Bungay striker who rounded keeper Kev Sherwood before slotting home.
Bungay as a result of L'Oranges disappointment enjoyed a spell of increased pressure but failed to capitalise as Rob Cooper met a Goal kick sending his header directly back into the path of Ian Wilson who fired past the helpless keeper with a deliciously placed effort.
Following the break Adam Bird partnered Ian Wison in attack as the joining of grace and power proved to hot for Bungay back line to handle. Great work in the centre of the park from Ross Molby-Jones and Steve 'The Crab' Collins as they pushed and harried led to a great move between Terry, Wilson, Doddington & finally Bird as his crafty flick and swivel saw him blast past the keeper with his left.
Disappointed at being stung, after all their hard work Bungay were quickly hurt again as Adam Bird's sheer strength saw him brush past the Bungay back line before out nerving the keeper and placing home with his left once again.
Bungay to their credit started a rally cry and notched one back in the last five minutes as the right winger slipped into the hole at left back where Manager Danny McKinley should have been, had he not been going into anaphylactic shock on the half way line after crossing the dangerous line between strolling and jogging, as he passed the ball across the box to the man who was asking Banksey questions about his face lift, before firing home!
Yet another very pleasing match against a good side, and many thanks to 'The Black Dogs' for the use of their excellent facilities and their general hospitality. Special praise to the chef who assessed her sausage and chips frying portions by the combined weight of our back four, luckily she over estimated but nothing went to waste as she made up Ross Jones (pictured above) a doggy bag.
Goals- Ian Wilson & Adam Bird x2
G.H.Windows & Doors M.O.M- Ian Wilson, it's never easy in your first match when playing with new team mates, but his touch and movement made him look like he'd been playing in Orange for years, well done Willo and welcome aboard.
