Pot Black F.C- 2
Blundeston Magpies- 0
Match Overview- After the disappointment of last weeks league result against 'soon to be re-crowned' champ's Hearts of Oak F.C, L'Orange looked to steady their ship against an awkward Magpies team at Normanston Park.
Availability, proved once again how important a large squad is, as Rob Cooper was forced into an unfamiliar central role next to Max Wall in the absence, unbelievably of Paul Taylor, Jordan Wardrope, Simon Durrant, Adam Tantony, Anthony Ogogo, Ross Jones, Steve Collins, Simon Hall & Jon Reynolds all of whom have filled the central role this year.
Despite a few changes to the line up all players involved would be considered regulars aside from Manager Danny McKinley who donned his boots for only the second time this season.
The first half was an ugly affair, not due to bad tackles but due to lack of composure and the strong wind playing apart. Thankfully for the lads in Orange the magpies keeper was unlucky to spill a great save under immense pressure from Darren Laws as the ball rolled to Vinny Terry who placed the ball home with ease.
The half-time team talk was an easy job with all players as disappointed with their performance as everyone else. Although something said must of struck a cord as the improvement was undeniable. Steven Foulkes first game for weeks, saw him thrown into the centre in place of the injured Scotty 'Too Hotty' Reynolds, as one of his first jobs was to soak up the applause of his team mates after his delightful dead ball delivery saw his free kick flicked by Rob Sterry to Vinny Terry to fire home his second.
The Rearguard of Rose, Boyd, Laws, Boyd and Sherwood remained resolute through out as Sterry made way for Neil Banks and Gav Hunt for Danny McKinley as the Home side ran down the clock to pave their way to the clubs first ever League Cup semi-final.
Goals- Vinny Terry x2
G.H Windows & Doors M.O.M- Vinny Terry, despite a late push by Berger and a sound performance by Rosey, V.T's two notches and tireless energy stole the limelight. Well done.
