Pot Black F.C- 1
Kirkley 'A'- 0
Match Overview- This re-arranged fixture following a dreadful accident earlier in the season doubled on the night as both a league match and a charity game for the injured Joel Haverson.
Despite the fantastic facilities at Walmer Rd, Pot Black were right to fear the size of the pitch as the managements decision to favour an unfamiliar 4-5-1 formation worked perfectly as L'Oranges extra man in the centre counter acted Kirkley's young legs.
Pot Black scored what proved to be a match winner when excellent pressure down the right by Bird, Terry, and Wardrope lead to a panicked clearance which fell to Rob Cooper bursting down left who with work left to do calmly fired home.
Pot Black were forced into an early change as Gav Hunt took up the thankless task of lone striker with Adam Bird slotting in behind with Jordan Wardrope and Paul Taylor.
In the second half, with Captain Darren Boyd on Holiday the central defensive partnership of Darren Laws and Danny Rose were colossal and ably flanked by Sterry and Gary Boyd as they continuously soaked up the pressure that the young Kirkley men were inflicting.
Simon Hall and Scotty Reynolds entered the Pot Black wall, as the men orange proved an impassable object and went into lock down proving why they currently have the best defense in the league.
Goals- Rob Cooper
G.H Windows & Doors M.O.M- Jordan Wardrope, despite excellent performances all round the pitch, his poise in possession was eye catching.
