Oxford Arms F.C- 1
Pot Black F.C- 5
Match Overview- Pot black entered this match cautiously, due to their terrible history in this fixture having never beaten Oxford Arms. Although the Oxford they faced was a far cry from some of the sides they had turned out in the past.
Again L'Orange's manager rearranged his starting eleven with one eye, on Tuesday nights League clash versus Kirkley 'A', Steven Foulkes partnered Max Wall in centre midfield following his impressive performance last week.
P.B took the lead after the Oxford back line failed to clear their lines and in form striker Gav Hunt pounced as he steered the ball into the bottom left hand corner. Although with L'Orange struggling to find shape and at times each other, a move through former Lowestoft striker Tosh Reeder saw an excellent 1 on 1 save by Kev Sherwood ricochet unluckily to the same striker to tap home.
With an unbelievably and rather painfully quiet Pot Black side looking dejected the home side began to gain confidence until Scott Reynolds kicked them where it hurts, as he latched onto a slack pass and fired a shot through the keepers grasp from 30 yards.
Despite still struggling to find form, Steven Foulkes beautifully delivered free kick eased Pot Black nerves as in the ensuing panic, the ball fell to Gav Hunt to smash home.
Darren Boyd came on at the break in centre midfield, as his dominance in the air and in possession instantly made the visitors look more comfortable. Adam Bird and Jordan Wardrope also entered the action in order to put the result to bed.
Scott Reynolds snatched the fourth of the day after he met a cleared corner on the half volley to drill the ball home past a static keeper. Next came the final nail in the Oxford coffin, when Vinny Terry struck a sweet free kick from the edge of the box which the keeper managed claw off the line but to every ones delight, the only man who reacted was Gary Boyd who fired home and celebrated in own unique way 'playing dead'.
Overall the match had the feel of a friendly with silly mistakes, too many passengers, a lack of desire and a few attitudes that need to be adjusted. The highlight of the day was definitely the surprise sandwiches in the club! But I suppose when I consider my pre-match words ("I'm not worried about the performance, I want the right result!") I guess I got what I asked for, and expect each of you would have taken that result before kick-off.
Goal Scorers- Gav Hunt x2, Scott Reynolds x2, & Gary Boyd.
G.H.Windows & Doors M.O.M- Gary Boyd, solid as a rock despite a below average team performance, and topped it off with a poachers goal. Well done Gaz I'm really chuffed with that and I hope you are!
