Sole Bay 'Res'- 0
Pot Black F.C- 4
Match Overview- Pot Black entered this match with Max Wall, Gary Boyd, and Anthony Ogogo being asked to take a week off (all of whom showed fantastic attitude at the managers decision).
L'Orange welcomed back Neil Banks following several months on the sideline after the birth of his beautiful daughter Matilda.
Despite the shuffle the visitors started strongly against a young Sole Bay side bravely favouring a 3-5-2 formation against a in-form Pot Black side. Paul Taylor returned after a week off to pair up with Jordan Wardrope as their passing set the pace of play from the off. Adam Bird & Vinny Terry in attack starting their together the first time saw much of the ball, but found that it was just one of those days as luck was just not on their side despite good performances by both.
A frustrating first half was coming to a close, with opportunities going by and shots going a stray as notably Rob Sterry saw his excellent movement, so nearly got rewarded, had the ball fell to his stronger right foot. Although a clever through ball to Adam Bird helped swing things in L'Oranges favour after he was man handled, and a penalty was awarded. From which the calm and collected Paul Taylor placed the ball home.
After a productive team talk, P.B took to the field with a renewed positivity and confidence as their domination started to really show as a forced corner and P.T delivery dissected the Sole Bay penalty box as Scotty 'Too Hotty' Reynolds (pictured) smashed the ball home to his sheer delight as he exorcised some demons breaking his Pot Black duck, with the wide man being mobbed by his delighted team mates in the process.
The Sunday side's Cup players Wardrope, Laws, and Sterry made way for three quality replacements Gav Hunt, Rob Cooper, and Simon Durrant as they prepare for tomorrows County Semi Final.
With visitors looking increasingly dangerous from set pieces, the unfamiliar sight of Captain Darren 'On time again' Boyd spare on the right wing, as he delivered a Beckham-esque cross which Gav Hunt gracefully flicked inside the post for 3-0.
Clearly deflated and with no hope of a reprieve the young side in yellow battled on regardless to their credit but were finally put out of their misery when Simon Durrant burst down the left before a neat jink saw him send a screamer into the top right hand corner to mark his return.
Goal Scorers- Paul Taylor (pen), Scott Reynolds, Gav Hunt and Simon Durrant.
G.H. Windows & Doors M.O.M- Paul Taylor, an excellent performance as his range of passing and confidence in possession, made the opponents five man midfield look like they were out numbered.
