Pot Black Go-go-go on rampage!

Lowestoft & District Div 1- 17/01/09

Pot Black F.C- 5

Beccles Caxton Res- 0

Match Overview- With the home side deemed favourites in this clash due to league position and current form, for a spectator watching on, for a large portion of this match it would be hard to decipher 3rd from top from 3rd from bottom.

This was by no means due to a poor performance by the lads in Orange, more to do with a strong Caxton side who with the players on display today, I find it impossible to believe have only won three match's (maybe some 1st team'er dropped down for the game?).

Banks, Sterry and Reynolds were back in the starting line up after missing out against Magpies, as P.B started well but were matched man for man around the pitch with the visitors centre forward and centre-half looking like players with senior experience, but L'Orange came closest in the opening exchanges as In form striker Gav Hunt smashed goal wards a clever Paul Taylor clip, only for the keeper to pull of the save of his life.

With P.B getting frustrated by what appeared some controversial refereeing decisions, which left several players over exuberant after some slightly late tackles, including twice when Adam Bird was scythed down in the box, but denied on both occasions. Following the latter irritation the striker jumped to his feet and hounded down the defence with the assistance of Max Wall before the ball ran to Paul Taylor who jinked and twisted into space before smashing the ball into the top corner with tremendous force.

In the second half the logger heads display continued as each team dealt with everything that was thrown at them, as Kev Sherwood was forced into several breathtaking saves. Although it was not until the 70th minute when L'Orange forced home the killer blow, as fresh legs in the form of Jordan Wardrope, Gary Boyd and P.B Pin-up Anthony Ogogo paid dividends with Jordi & Ogogo combining as Max Wall burst into the box to smash home, to celebrate successfully changing his name by de-poll from Max Wall to simply 'THE WALL'.

With the team in green and white on their knees, Anthony Ogogo took his chance to shine as his clever turn and step over left him open to curl the ball around the keeper and into the side netting with a mouth watering finish, to the delight of everyone with Orange in their veins.

Gav Hunt could now smell 'blood in the water' after another solid display, he rose like a salmon to latch onto a solid Rob Sterry cross to header home, but their was one more headline left to write as Ogogo pounced once more after some excellent one-two football found the hit man charging into the box to fire home.

To be fair to the visitors the score flattered P.B, after their gritty performance left L'Orange on the back foot at times, in a match which could so easily have gone the other way, but as we have found to our detriment in seasons past, the difference between a good side & great side is they punish you, O.K so we're not quite there yet but we're definitely heading in the right direction.

Goal Scorers- Paul Taylor, The Wall, Gav Hunt, & Anthony Ogogo x2

G.H. Windows & Doors M.O.M- The Wall, absolutely outstanding in a box to box display.
