Magpies Shot Down!

Lowestoft & District League Division 1 03/01/09

Blundeston Magpies- 1

Pot Black F.C- 4

Match Overview- Pot Black entered this match keen to start 2009 in the manner they finished 2008 with a resounding victory, and the side in Orange did not disappoint. A young but competent Magpies side with former Lowestoft Reserve starlet Malik Knight in attack looked like they would be a tough challenge on an surprisingly small pitch which must be close to the minimum width.

Despite an air of confidence amongst the home side, this was soon extinguished by sheer power, creativity and dominance of the Pot Black play, left the magpies players chasing shadows as they were destroyed in 30 minutes.

The first blow came when Max Wall blasted home an incredible effort from 30 yards on the half volley, as the keeper watched it all the way into the top corner. Boyd by a super finish Wall was not finished yet as in Lampard-esque style he pounced on the midfield indecision as he came away from a tackle with the ball slalomed around two players before firing in with his weaker right foot making it 4 in 4 games Saturdays and Sundays for the inform P.B star.

Next came great battling move which saw Adam Bird header home as the keeper scoop the ball out of the net leaving the Magpies defenders with their hands on their heads in disappointment as their Manager/Linesman Ronnie Socrates had his usual effect, as he felt he had a better view than the gutted players on the goal line to tell the Referee it never crossed the line (Some things don't mature with age, it would seem!).

Visibly angered by this Adam Bird went on one of his bull in a china shop runs, charging down defender and keeper sliding the ball to white hot striker Gavin Hunt to slot in from a tight angle.

With Magpies now gob smacked at the battering they were taking and Ronnie now in an unusual muted state, Former Magpies hit man Gav Hunt put his old club to the sword, when he hit a bolt from the blue from 35 yards which flew in off the cross bar, to the delight everyone involved with L'Orange, his best goal for the club to date.

An early change was made in the second half as an unwell Adam Bird made way for Steven Foulkes, as across the pitch the visitor took their foot of the pedal feeling that the job was done, although P.B came close again when Rob Cooper hit the post and Berger fired just wide late on.

Rob Sterry and Neil Banks entered the action for the tired Max Wall and Adam Tantony, with fresh legs required to stifle the Magpies revival, as on several occasions Knight broke free with Kev Sherwood each time proving an unbeatable obstacle, although their were two blots on the P.B copy book, as Magpies stole a soft goal after a low corner which bobbled and deflected into the net out of a Malay of legs, and lastly Neil Banks was fortunately only booked after two savage challenges which continue the P.B utility man's violent, despicable and unacceptable rampage (Or we're they Rosey? Ha Ha I guess we'll never know?).

Goal Scorers- Max Wall 2 & Gav Hunt 2

G.H Windows & Doors M.O.M- Nothing to separate them... Max Wall & Gav Hunt.
