Barsham Frozen Out!

League Division 1- 13/12/08

Pot Black F.C- 3

Barsham F.C- 0

Match Overview- With weather reports all week suggesting that this weeks match might be a wash out at Normanston Park, the conditions at 2pm were unpleasant but defiantly not worthy of a call off, as the home side looked keen to build on an excellent victory last week.

As expected with the centre of the pitch looking sticky the football was by no mean a feast for the eyes of any spectators crazy enough to be watching as sloppy passing and poor clearances lead to an early scare as Barsham had a goal rightly chalked off for off-side, and P.B keeper Kev Sherwood was called into action several time before half-time, saving L'Oranges bacon on each occasion.

At the other end Barsham could count themselves extremely lucky to finish the half with 11 men after the visitors keeper came flying out of his area scything down Adam Bird yet unbelievably only received a yellow card.

With it stalemate at the interval, Captain Darren Boyd's afternoon came to a miserable end when he was forced off at the break with muscle pull in his neck, thankfully P.B had a fit again Danny Rose ready for action on the bench, who looked confident in the back line with fill-in skipper Darren Laws.

With the cold taking it toll on both sides, L'Orange showed some serious guts and determination as they were visibly dealing with the tough conditions better than there frozen opponents, as an Adam Bird effort came back off the post, as the only player to react Gav Hunt snapped up his first of the season to the delight of his teammates.

Knowing that another goal would mentally seal victory, the home side pushed on with fresh, warm legs swinging the momentum further in the favour of Pot Black as Steve Collins and Steven Foulkes entered the battle. Good work in attack by Max Wall, Gav Hunt and Scott Reynolds lead to the best moment of the match as Berger slid in late at the back post to net his first of the season.

With the clock counting down and both side ready for a hot bath and a Bovril, The visitors keeper could only parry an effort from 'The Crab' to the feet of Darren Laws to poke home, rounding of what was in truth a poor match, in horrible conditions but possibly three of the sweetest points we'll get all season.

Goals- Gav Hunt, Steven Foulkes and Darren Laws
