Its is with regret that i must confess to having the same disorder as the great Dennis Bergkamp.
You will recall that he often missed important away games for Arsenal due to his fear of flying, well the condition i have is similar except its the driving to away games that scares me most. With all the home games we've had this season i know that we will spend a lot of the second half of the season on the road and its something I'm not comfortable with.I have suggested to Danny that he pays for the drugs to sedate me before we travel however Mr Banks has confirmed that the credit crunch has hit Pot Black and with the continuation of Ross " Go large " Jones wages the club can not afford to do this.
Another suggestion was hypnotherapy which has been ruled out due to previous bad effects whilst under the state.
So for this season (only) i have hung my boots up for playing competitively for Pot Black as I have after 5 years of trying been accepted in the 2009 London Marathon.
I had said all along that I would be making this decision when i got in so unfortunately that day has arrived. At the tender age of 27 i find that my body can not cope with a game on the Saturday and then a lot of running training in the week.
I ache like an old man until about Tuesday at the moment. I love playing football with you guys and i hated watching on Saturday as i wanted to join in but I'm realistic in knowing that if i continue i wont be able to get my training in for the marathon. I will still come up and watch the games as i want to be part of this years effort to push up the league. We have done well so far and become a team hard to beat, we need to continue that and soon we will start turning those draws into wins, it takes time to change and we have started.
A final point please don't get bloody booked or cautioned as the fa appear to have grown their own forest to cope with the paper demand that Pot black has put on them!!! Every booking generates 17 pieces of paper - BEFORE YOU SWEAR, TACKLE, KICK SOMEONE I SUGGEST YOU THINK OF THE ENVIRONMENT (and your pocket).
THE CRAB.
P.s. I will be collecting sponsorship nearer the time for the event and i would be grateful for a contribution. I suggest Neil makes the Subs £13.50 one week so that i can have a tenner, ( the charity will get a tenner)!
